A Message from Brenda:
A JEWEL IN OUR CROWN
By Brenda Tolbert,
Development Officer Compassionate Touch
Its known that good volunteer board members understand
the organizations goals. They are curious, committed,
flexible, and passionate. Dedicated board members work in
all capacities as builders, educators, advocates,
and fundraisersto move the mission forward. The future
for Compassionate Touch is indeed bright.
One who exemplifes that role is Terry Aven of the Compassionate
Touch Advisory Board.
Terry, a Lifeline pastoral care volunteer for over two
decades, has for two consecutive years hosted jewelry sales
to benefit Compassionate Touch. Terry coordinates the one
day event with Gem Starr, a jewelry company
run by three sisters who design silver and gemstone jewelry
which is made in Bali and Thailand. The Gem Starr organization
conducts sales exclusively as fundraisers for non-profit
organizations. Their items run from $20-$100+ with 35% of
sales going to the sponsoring non-profit.
This years event was held on October 15 and netted
$1,700.00 for Compassionate Touch.

Terry Aven is just one of the jewels in the Compassionate
Touch Advisory Board crown. Hosting the annual jewelry sale
benefit is just one of the creative ways the CT advisory
board members express their passion, commitment and advocacy
for Lifeline and Compassionate Touch.
