A
Ray of Hope Through Partnering
By Rosa Winfrey
Director, Compassionate Touch Program
All who think
cannot but see there is a sanction like that of religion which binds
us in partnership in the serious work of the world. Benjamin

Compassionate
Touch flourishes because of the partnership we share with social
workers and donors in the Houston and Dallas area hospitals. Their
dedicated work and donations have been a ray of hope to those patients
and their families by helping to provide immediate short-term assistance.
In addition, for the past two years we have been privileged to receive
a special grant to assist solid organ transplant patients in the
Houston and Dallas area hospitals. This grant helped to provide
assistance to over 600 patients. We were able to award nearly $90,000
of funding towards housing, parking, meals or other special needs.
We are certainly proud of the many partnerships the Compassionate
Touch program has established in the past, present and those forthcoming.
Its truly worthwhile to be associated with a program which
continues to engage in the serious work of the world.

Compassionate Touch recently traveled to Dallas to meet with
Southwest Transplant Alliance and the North Texas network of transplant
social workers. This very important and active network
of Dallas area social workers meets every other month or so in order
to share resources and to support one another so they can better support
patients in need of life-saving organ transplants.
The social workers were thrilled to learn of this new resource that
will most certainly help them to support patients facing financial
crises.
Southwest Transplant Alliance and the transplant social workers
of North Texas welcome Compassionate Touch to our area and thank
this wonderful organization, in advance, for the tremendous help
it is sure to provide.
